The Old, New And Loved Chevrolet Corvette
Filed Under corvette | Comments Off
General Motors manufactures Chevrolet Corvette in their Kentucky assembly plant. This car falls in the sports car category. Corvettes are either two door coupes or two door convertibles. Chevrolet Corvette is very similar to Dodge Viper and Ford GT.
Extremely powerful engines are one of the distinguishing features of this car. But though the engine packs power it is not complex. An overhead valve together with a larger displacement, usage of leaf springs in suspension makes Chevrolet Corvette what it is.
Other cars in the similar category are made with a much more complex engine. The cars are in many colors like sunset orange, silver grey. There have been many models of Chevrolet Corvette each better than the previous one.
Corvettes are very sophisticated cars, but they have a little history behind them. Corvette is a small fighting frigate and the car has taken its name from them. The naming has been done by a gentleman called Myron Scott.
Though now General Motors manufacture them in a very big way, the first car built in Flint, Michigan was practically hand made. From that first car the latest Chevrolet Corvette model unveiled in the last quarter of 2005, as a model for 2006, has indeed come a long way. General Motors have constantly strived to make the newer models a cut above the rest, but without any mind boggling complexities. In the niche market, Corvettes stand tall.
Owning a Chevrolet Corvette is a matter of pride. They are stylish and expensive. Only a true car connoisseur can really appreciate the beauty of a Corvette. Fuel economy is another attraction of a Corvette. The cars have become very popular especially with those who are somewhat adventurous and enjoy speed.
Dealers are able to guide the customer and Corvettes come with a thirty six month warranty. There is the benefit of insurance also. Corvettes offer a comfortable ride, but compared to other sports cars, there is less agility because of a light steering and its width. The interior of the 2006 model is an improvement on the earlier models.
There is a big market for used cars and with the advent of internet
buying and selling cars have become very easy and convenient. In fact getting the product details or information about new models is easy too. There are used car dealers and the prospective seller can contact them. But getting attached to Chevrolet Corvette is so easy, few think of getting rid of it.

A Corsa Exhaust for your Vette
Filed Under corvette | Comments Off
It all started in 1989 in Berea, Ohio, a town more recently known for a famous run-in between a gritty, mustachioed investigative reporter and a lonely Ohio State Buckeyes fan at a public library. And while the computer banks of Berea’s libraries may be a bit scandalous, things are considerably more savory down the road at Corsa’s facilities. In fact, some of the best pipes made come out of Corsa’s clean house, and not just for autos.
In the marine world, Corsa exhausts are king. So, when it came time to make a plunge into the four-wheeled market, Corsa went after the automotive equivalent of a thundering American speedboat: the Corvette. Starting with the C4 generation, Corsa hand-crafted stainless steel exhausts that not only tickled enthusiasts, they turned the heads in GM’s performance shop. This earned Corsa exhausts a lofty place among the Corvette accessories adopted under the General’s label. And, it earned Corsa a place underneath the first of several Indy 500 pace cars. But, how would a specialized product made by a small producer of pipes earn such mainstream distinction?
The answer is technology. A drawback to nearly all exhaust systems made before Corsa debuted was the interior resonance or drone that assaults the ears at certain RPMs. Corsa developed a fully tuned chambered muffler with individually welded deflectors that cancel the drone. But, these deflectors still allowed the high-volume flow that a Vette’s engine requires to maximize performance. Instantly, Corsa had a patent on the best-flowing, best-sounding Corvette exhaust on the market.
The technology behind Corsa’s revolutionary muffler core wouldn’t be anything without the quality manufacturing every set of Corsa pipes receives. They start with 304 stainless steel, the highest grade available for corrosion resistance. Next, the pipes are hydroformed into shape for a restriction-free exhaust path. And, each part of the kit is hand-welded to ensure quality. Combine that with an experienced, precision fit, and the complete Corsa exhaust gave its resonance-canceling technology every opportunity to succeed.
Corvettes have been the sharpest looking car on the road for quite some time now. And the drive toward performance parts is something almost universally held by Vette owners. There may be intricate twin intakes, advanced headers, and even suspension components that get those last few neck hairs to stand at attention. But, nothing to come around in the last 30 years of Corvette accessories has changed Vette performance quite like Corsa’s exhausts. While they have taken the formula from those old Indy pace cars and applied it to virtually any popular car, truck or SUV on the road today, there’ll always be a soft spot for the Corvette beaming from one big Berea warehouse.

2009 Corvette Zr1 to Incorporate Carbon Fiber Components
Filed Under corvette | Comments Off
General Motors plans to use the 2009 Corvette ZR1 as a test platform for the incorporation of carbon fiber parts in high-volume vehicles. Carbon fiber, a material first used in the racing world, has the advantage of weighing 50% less than steel. Although it is expensive, carbon fiber could be the answer to bringing down body weight, a crucial component in meeting the new federally mandated standards for higher fuel efficiency. The recently set corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) levels call for a fleet average of 35 mpg to be achieved by 2020.
Designers at General Motors predict that it may take as long as a decade to truly understand the potential carbon fiber holds for vehicle manufacturing. The company’s first use of carbon fiber was in the 2004 Corvette Z06 Commemorative Edition, where the outer hood was fabricated of the material. The 2009 ZR1 will include the use of several key carbon fiber parts including: hood and roof, front and back spoilers, front fenders, and side rocker panels. Overall, the weight of the sports car will be brought down 35 lbs. For instance, the roof panel and roof bow, come in 7.7 lbs. less than the same components on a conventional Corvette. Engineers will be studying the durability of the experimental material over the life of the ZR1s and using the data to improve placement of carbon fiber parts to achieve mass efficiencies.
The ZR1, unveiled in January at the Detroit Auto Show, is a good test bed for the carbon fiber components as it is a high-end sports car to be produced as a limited edition only. Interestingly enough, however, most people will not be able to recognize the presence of the carbon fiber with its distinctive weave pattern on the ZR1 because it will be well hidden beneath a shell of paint. Carbon fiber is highly susceptible to yellowing under ultra-violet light.
The ZR1 will be powered by a 6.2 liter, supercharged V8 and will be capable of producing 620 horsepower making it GM’s most powerful car. It will go on sale late in 2008 and will have an annual production run of approximately 2,500. The exact price of the two-door, hatchback coupe (fixed room, rear-wheel drive) has not been nailed down, but it is an exclusive machine on all levels, including the use of its revolutionary carbon fiber components.

Fast Cars - The American Muscle
Filed Under corvette | Comments Off
In the 1960s there was a class of cars introduced to the world known as muscle cars. These cars were sleek and sporty and contained a powerful engine. Most of these cars boasted a V8 engine which was geared for speed. As these cars were produced the manufacturers were in stiff competition with each other. As each manufacturer tried to out do the other, we were led into an era of some of the fastest cars of our time. With no thought to gas and fuel efficiency, Americans seemed to be having the time of their lives. Their cars were fast and eye-catching, both on the road and on the race track. Racing stripes and flashy decals made a statement about both the car and the driver. It seemed the flashier the car the more desirable.
At a time when the luxury automobile was the king of the road for the married set, the younger crowd wanted something smaller, faster, and sportier. The Shelby Mustang and the 440 Roadrunner are two of the fast cars which were built to satisfy the desire for high performance and speed. There were many more fast cars to come. Camaros, Chargers, GTOs, and Firebirds all tried to pack as much punch under the hood as was possible. Corvettes offered speed and sleek style, but they also had a high price tag. Most of the other high performance cars offered a price that was affordable to the average working class people.
The Fuel Effect
During the 1960s and 70s auto manufacturers were riding high on a wave of speed and performance. Then we entered an era where we were told gas was in short supply and we were destroying the ozone with our extravagant auto emissions. We reluctantly let go of our fast and sporty cars and took to the streets with a V6 and even a V4. Gas mileage and cheaper insurance costs forced the fast cars onto the race track and off the roadways.
The desire for speed will be with us always. We will probably never again see a time when speed and high performance engines are sold for the every day street car but we can get a glimpse of these cars at the raceway or at vintage car shows. The baby boomers were around to see these cars at their inception and they still carry a torch for them today. Many will spend a small fortune to restore one of these original fast cars back to their former splendor.

Hi, a friend wants me to assist him in selling his 61 Corvette online (he’s absolutely computer illiterate). He gave me some info on his car, but I’m finding it a bit confusing.
What sort of information does the buyer of a classic car look for?
Any advice would be appreciated…
Thanks and have a great day!

The Legendary Ford T-bird
Filed Under corvette | Comments Off
Ford T-Bird are legendary and the current models are really elegant. Brought back from our glory years, reinterpreted for these modern times, is a timeless classic begging for the open road. As Ford Vice President of Design explained the 1955 to 1957 Ford T-Bird is as symbolic of the times as rock and roll music and bobby socks. Some clubs cater for any model produced by a particular manufacturer while vehicles including Corvettes and Ford T-Bird are served by specialist organizations.
To make sure that the paint color comes out correctly, we suggest that you make sure that your T-Bird is present for the painter to color match color. Your T-Bird is one of the rare vehicles to come full circle from classic roadster to pavement burning muscle sled to punchy sedan, then recently back to its roots. As Motor Trend Detroit editor, wrote Perhaps the most outstanding feature of the new Ford T-Bird is the clever wedding of sports car functionalism with American standards of comfort.
It is also a lasting piece of American culture. The 91 model is an excellent value for a used car. And if your it is equipped with a cold air intake system, the cold air intake filter will perfectly match it. The it is a retro design that has been around a few years now but still manages to stand out from the crowd. Taking you back to the golden age of the American roadster, and is about driving freedom. The sole power train under the hood of the 2004 model is a 3.
1959 T-Bird is a cruiser in every sense of the word. It is a vehicle that has shared the platform with the Lincoln as well and it has sufficient room to accommodate tall drivers as well. The Ford T-Bird is a car manufactured in the USA by the Ford Motor Company. And is big on style and comfort and is still an affordable piece of ‘Automobile Americana’ that may someday be a classic.
1988 is absolutely gorgeous with its remarkable features that includes platinum spark plugs, 225/60/16 tires, new computer and wiring, custom 2. For this year, it is fully loaded with outstanding features power disc, brakes, air conditioning, cruise and speed control, power door, power locks, tilt steering wheel, power windows, power driver seats, seat belts, AM/FM radio with cassette, power steering, climate control, 6-way power sunroof and custom wheels.
Knowing that the resale and trade in value of your 1993 is $1,480. Millions of vehicles are recalled each year and it is possible that the 2005 is among them. This Ford T-Bird is an 11″ long die cast collectible metal car with operable doors, hood & trunk. And it is a big purchase, so take the time to research carefully, make a few phone calls, check with the Better Business Bureau, and your consumer affairs about your Ford T-Bird dealership.
The thoroughly modern interior of the new Ford T-Bird is done up with classic style. The trunk of the Ford T-Bird is spacious enough for a golf bag, and carrying along the soft cover for the stowed top shrinks the available space considerably. This 2005 is subject to prior sale and it may become unavailable without notice. I have a 94 Ford T-Bird is there an easy way to remove the sunroof to replace the screws that came loose. Top speeds were high; my 1967 is capable of better than 140mph and that is not atypical.
