If the person you are gifting for is a car buff, he or she will surely appreciate such a gesture.

You can also find items like table clocks, or pen stands made from vegetable waste, or paper waste.
Levi Quinn asked:

Classic cars have withstood the test of time and managed to remain a thing of nostalgic value to many. When a car is still modern, you cannot always tell which make or model will go on to become a classic. Like cars of days long passed, some of today’s cars will also become classics. It is hard to say which vehicles will last another twenty or thirty years from now. Many automotive resources and professionals have varying opinions on this matter. Of course, only time will really tell. But it is possible to make predictions and form your own opinion.

There are certain names in the automotive industry that always stand out. The Corvette is just one car that everybody seems to know. Though there are many different types of Corvette, the Z06 has a very good chance of being a potential classic. This powerful car comes equipped with a 7.0 L engine that encompasses an amazing 505 horsepower. That is a substantial amount of power for any car. Since many people make the Corvette their collectible car of choice, it is a safe bet that this model might be around for long time.

The Smart car is not one that you may assume will be a classic. It was designed to allow drivers to save money on gas. This car is very small and was designed to be efficient. Many people find it to be very ridiculous while others truly love it. Many might not think this car could possibly be a classic but consider the Volkswagen Beetle or the Mini Cooper. For some reason, many people really love small cars. As more of these vehicles are seen on the road, the chance of them becoming a classic greatly increases. Smart cars are definitely not for everybody but they have begun to find their own niche in the automotive world.

Many came to know the Dodge Charger after it made a significant impact as the main vehicle in the Dukes of Hazzard. When Dodge brought the Charger back in 2005, there were greatly contrasting reviews about it. However, both the Dodge Charger Daytona and Super Bee come in limited numbers and stand a great chance of becoming future classics along with its predecessors. The return of the Hemi engine had many muscle car lovers eager to get their hands on the Charger. In both 5.7 L and 6.1 L engines, this car comes with some impressive power.

Ford has certainly stood their ground in the automotive market. The Mustang Shelby has got to be one of the nicest and most powerful Mustangs on the road. This is a car for the true muscle car lover. Many of the new Shelby’s come in limited numbers so they are not all that easy to get your hands on. With 540 horsepower, nobody will laugh when this car is on the road.

If you buy a car hoping that it will be a major classic, you might be disappointed. You should choose the car that you like the best. Classics are unpredictable but it is interesting to see what makes the list.

High Efficiency Gas Furnace

Jamar Mcneil asked:

In 1967 Valentino Balboni was hired as a Lamborghini test driver. We’ve mentioned him in the pages of Road & Track on more than one occasion. Our Design Director Richard Baron remembers him clearly as the young Italian who managed to drive a Countach while sitting on its open door sill. Valentino has given thrill rides to many of us over the years. He’s the classic Italian who does everything with flair and, in this case, tire smoke. We all love tire smoke, and he’s a master.

That Lamborghini would honor him with a special edition of the Gallardo, the most successful Lamborghini of all time, is no surprise. Nor is the fact that they built this 250 limited edition model as a rear-wheel-drive drift-car special. (This not only saves weight, but allows for the ultimate power slides and tire smoke.)

The 550-2 identifies the mid-mounted V-10 making roughly 550 horsepower; the 2, the fact that the car is rear drive. Don’t let the numbers fool you, the engine is the same as that in the 560-4. The last 560-4 we tested weighed in at 3595 lb. and losing the front-drive portion of the Gallardo’s all-wheel-drive system shaves roughly 550 lb. off the car. To handle the change in balance, custom springs, dampers, roll-bars and tires are incorporated. A limited slip differential and revised stability control system help keep the rear-wheel-drive Lambo on the road even in novice hands. But turn it off and in the hands of a skilled driver like Balboni, the 550-2 is promised to make him smile. The Corsa ESP mode is also set to permit greater drift angles for those who want to have fun, but with a bit of moderation.

One can’t help but wonder if there are any connections to the Audi R8 GT (also rear-drive.) Although the limited run of 250 cars is small, the Lamborghini can be ordered with optional carbon ceramic brakes and e-gear transmission. The list price of $219,800 is only slightly higher than the last 560-4 we tested and, for those with the skill of Balboni, likely very worth the fun.

The 2010 Chevrolet Corvette lineup gains a new model, the Grand Sport. Chevy’s performance car comes as a coupe and convertible. Both body styles are available in Base and Grand Sport trim levels. Grand Sport replaces the Z51 option package and includes specific styling cues, suspension tuning, brakes, and transmission gearing. These models have a 430-hp 6.2-liter V8 engine. An optional “dual-mode” exhaust system increases horsepower to 436. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. Chevy offers other high-performance Corvette models, the Z06 and ZR1, both available only as coupes. Z06 has a 505-hp 7.0-liter V8, 6-speed manual transmission, specific suspension tuning, tires, and brakes. ZR1 has a supercharged 638-hp 6.2-liter V8 engine and 6-speed manual transmission. ZR1 differs from other Corvettes by its unique suspension tuning and use of lightweight carbon fiber on the hood, roof panel, roof bow, front fascia splitter, and rocker moldings. All manual-transmission Corvette models incorporate GM’s new Launch Control, which modulates engine speed in order to maximize grip during full-throttle launches. The ZR1 adds a “Performance Traction Management” system, which automatically adjusts the traction control and suspension to suit high-performance driving. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and side airbags. Among the available features are a head-up display, navigation system, and wireless cell phone link.

Absent since the C4’s demise, the Corvette Grand Sport is back for 2010, this time sporting wider Z06 bodywork, larger brakes and the option of either a Coupe or Convertible. Another commemorative sticker package? Not-so-much.

We know what you’re probably thinking and to be perfectly honest, we were thinking it too. This is not another commemorative package, nor is it a sticker package, instead the 2010 Corvette Grand Sport is a bonafide performance package that will help to distinguish the different Corvette models even more so.

Chevrolet’s plan is to rid the lineup of the Z51 package Vettes, instead replacing it with a uniquely designed new Grand Sport model. Everything that you know and love about the Z51 will be here, but now, with the help of new Z06-derived bodywork you won’t be confused with those driving lesser base-model Vettes.

The 6.2-liter LS3 V8 remains, pumping out the same extremely capable 430 horsepower and 424 lb-ft or torque (436 horsepower and 428 lb-ft with the optional two-mode sport exhaust) and is easily manipulated to do your bidding through either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The Grand Sport’s calipers are distinguished by their silver with red lettering and the rotors have been enlarged to Z06-spec, 14-inch with six-piston calipers in front and 13.4-inch with four-piston grabbers in the rear. Also equipped are revised shock/spring settings and heavier duty stabilizer bars. The 2010 Grand Sport rides on unique 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels wrapped in sticky 275/35ZR18 and 325/30ZR19 tires, front and rear.

For those that opt to equip their Grand Sport with the six-speed manual transmission, Chevrolet will throw in a dry-sump oiling system, differential cooler and a rear-mounted battery. All-in-all, these improvements should net an enthusiastic 2010 Grand Sport driver with a 0.2-second improvement over the existing Z51-model.

The Grand Sport can be equipped in either Coupe or Convertible body styles, but regardless of which you choose, you’ll be rewarded with a wider Z06-style front fascia with a Z06 lower lip spoiler, the only thing missing is the scoop on the nose. Z06-width front fenders replace the stock Vette’s with a Grand Sport badge sitting atop dual vertical gills. The rear fenders have been replaced with Z06 units with functional brake cooling ducts. You can have your Grand Sport in any available Corvette color as well as all four different available trim levels (1LT, 2LT, 3LT and 4LT). A heritage package is also available, adding a pair of dual stripes on the front fenders in either silver or red. The interior features special Grand Sport embroidery on the seat head rests.

The 2010 Corvette Grand Sport is publicly being announced at the 12th annual C5/C6 Corvette Birthday Bash at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky this weekend. Pricing is yet to be announced, but expect it to be somewhere around current Z51-package pricing. We’ll take ours in Coupe-spec painted in Le Mans Blue (Okay fine, Jet Stream Blue) with the red stripes please.

2010 Ferrari Millechili

What it is: A lightweight two-seater (2200 pounds or even less) loaded with Formula 1 technology. In many ways it will be a successor to the Enzo, but instead of adding power, Ferrari will add lightness. Don’t worry-the Millechili name won’t be making it to production.

Why it’s important: F1 goodies make their way onto a road car. The technology and light weight will make this car spectacularly quick but also fuel efficient.

Platform: A derivative of the F430’s aluminum space frame on a slightly longer, 104.3-inch wheelbase. The mid-engine layout will carry a new V-10 of unknown displacement making upwards of 600 horsepower.

Noteworthy technology: Active aerodynamics will manage airflow over the vehicle, thus reducing drag.

Competition: Not much in sight as the current crop of supercars (Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Murciélago, Mercedes SLR McLaren) are either too heavy or expensive to be considered worthy competitors.

What might go wrong: Not much. The idea of an ultra-lightweight Ferrari sounds plenty good to us.

Estimated arrival and cost: Production is set to begin in 2010. An estimated 300 cars will be built over a couple years. Start saving your Benjamin Franklins as the successor to the Ferrari Enzo will be at least $500,000.

see more at:

http://www.gt2buy.com

Modern Lighting Choices

Brenda Williams asked:

In 1954, Ford Motor Company introduced the Mustang, which had been designed to compete with the Chevrolet Corvair and Chevy II. The Mustang was a phenomenal success and immediately prompted GM to begin work on a counter competitor. The result was Project XP-836. The XP-836 was targeted to the new youth market that had taken to the Mustang.

Named the Panther, this project was released to the automotive press and promoted as GM’s Mustang equivalent. In fact, it was often called Chevy’s Mustang and GM had adopted much of the marketing formula used to promote the Mustang.

The Panther script was accompanied by leaping cat emblems that resembled those used by Jaguar. At this time, the image of the XP-836 was the jungle cat overtaking the Mustang.

But in early 1966, Ralph Nader launched an attack on the Corvair. This worried GM management and they were afraid that the Panther name together with the emblems would suggest aggression and attract the attention of the safety crusaders.

Consequently, the marketing department began to search for a new name. Currently all models such as the Corvair, Chevelle, Corvette, and Chevy II started with the letter C. Searching for another C name, the marketers perused both French and Spanish dictionaries. The result was the Camaro which means warm friend.

This would continue the C line and change the image of the new car. As the new name replaced the various project names inside the company, outside the company some controversy had started concerning the meaning of the Camaro name.

Frightened of an image problem before the new car had come off the assembly line, GM staged a national press conference to which over 200 journalists were invited. During the conference, GM released the name to the public and was successful in maintaining a positive image for the car.

Then, in 1967 Chevrolet delivered 212,000 Camaros to dealer showrooms. Like the Mustang, the Camaro was available with a variety of options allowing buyers to customize their purchases. The Camaro attracted some buyers who wanted high performance options. Canadians in Toronto were perhaps the most fortunate of this group. The Gorries Chevrolet/Oldsmobile dealership in Toronto put their race knowledge to use and practically rebuilt some of the Camaros into Black Panthers.

Gorries added heavy-duty front coils, rear leaf stiffeners, tubular shocks, front disc brakes together with power assist brakes, and steering. They also equipped the Camaros with 500 magnum wheels and low profile Uniroyal tires.

The body was modified by painting it black with a gold band around the nose. A gold stripe was painted along the bodyline above the rocker panel area. Just below the upper side bodyline, a gold pinstripe was added. A Black Panther nameplate was mounted on the forefront of each fender and on the rear deck lid. The Panther’s featured a gold interior and were available with whatever options a buyer might wish to order.

Buyers also had a choice of a 327 or 427 V-8 engine.

It is believed that about fifty black panthers were originally produced by Gorries. Only one is known of today. This is owned by Bob and Lorraine Simonen in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.

Goodman Gas Furnace

Jessica Whittaker asked:

They are not just ordinary machines running on ordinary engines with ordinary looks. Supercars are exactly what their names suggest them to be. They are high profile, they’re sleek, they’re expensive and they’re out there. Supercars were always the rulers of the roads and this year, it’s no different.

Right now, everybody is talking about the Bugatti Veyron, designed by Volkswagen which is one of the most recent supercars. It’s being sold at $1.6 million, thus making it the most expensive car this season. The top speed is 253 mph and the acceleration from 0-60 happens in only 2.5 seconds, which means that it is the fastest accelerating machine too. The fuel consumption is high -44.4 L per 100 km and at full throttle, 115 L per 100 km. This means your fuel would get over in less than fifteen minutes.

Yet, the Shelby Super Cars’ Ultimate Aero TT is THE fastest car and another of the recent supercars which is street-legal and generates a top speed of 257 mph. It costs $654,400 reaches 0-60 in 2.7 seconds. So this car tops the Bugatti in speed even though it is only half as expensive. This car took seven years to be designed. The 2008 prototype was a beauty to look at with a brand new aluminum engine and Azentek Atlas infotainment systems. Only 25 of these cars were estimated to be produced.

The BMW M3 Coupe is another recent supercar and it is the first V8 engine based M3 model. It only weighs 202 kg and the former six engine models were actually 15 kg heavier. The acceleration is 0-62 in 4.8 seconds. The top speed is 161 mph and the max engine speed is 8400 rpm. The M3 coupe has many firsts apart from the already mentioned. It is the first in its series to have a carbon fiber reinforced roof.

The Koenigsegg CCXR runs on a V8 bio fuel engine making it a green supercar -the first on the planet. With acceleration at 3.1 seconds (0-62 mph) and an estimated top speed of 250+ mph, this definitely is a car to reckon with. Of course there can be some gain when the power is optimized but that apart, this car is a wonderful thing to drive with a torque of 1060 nm at 6100 rpm. The base price is expected to be $2,370,000.

UK’s Aston Martin DBS is a new force in the world of recent supercars with its V12 engine with new improved engine break with ceramic discs. This is a first for the street legal Aston Martin. The top speed is 191 mph and it can accelerate from 0-62 in 4.1 seconds. Only 300 cars are to be produced.

The Nissan R35 GT-R Skyline is one of the most closely followed cars because of its relatively economical price and great features. It can reach 62 mph at 3.5 seconds and the top speed is 193 mph. The price is said to be $69,000.

Well there are so many other recent supercars worthy of mention and recognition. Giants like Ferrari and Lamborghini have produced their own power contraptions. The Lamborghini Reventon, costing a million euros with a top speed of 210 mph with acceleration in 3.4 seconds is truly a ready-to-burst car as its name suggests. Only 20 pieces will be produced. Ferrari’s Enzo and Aurea were two concepts that rocked the automobile world.

Just when you think that things can’t get any better with a supercar, some genius of an engineer comes up with a new treat for the automobile fans across the world. When it comes to supercars, the race for the best only begins when it looks like it ends.

Discount Kitchen Faucets

Terry Brown asked:

Brembo brings diversity in National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) by delivering a cutting-edge pedal box. The latter is a lightweight, high-stiffness top mounting pedal box which is designed to be interchangeable with most common versions of NASCAR’s.

Brembo, was established in 1961 in Bergamo, Italy, has historically established its strong presence in racing way back in 1975 when Ferrari chooses the expertise of the company for its Formula 1 cars. After Ferrari, some of the big names in the racing industry like Aston Martin, Porsche, Corvette, Maserati made Brembo brake rotors part of their winning formula. These renowned racing names contributed significantly in making Brembo a reliable brand when it comes to race- and championship-winning race cars.

Today, a significant number of open-wheel and stock car racing teams choose Brembo slotted rotors. In fact, numerous Champ Car and IRL cars are using Brembo rotors. Also, the NASCAR Nextel Cup- and Busch Series-winning Chevrolets of Jimmy Johnson and Kevin Harvick; and Frank Kimmel’s ARCA RE/MAX Series-winning Ford feature Brembo.

The braking systems of the world’s leader in braking parts went out of the box. It does not merely concentrate on rotors, calipers and pads. The racing season next year will be highlighted by the introduction of the mentioned Brembo pedal box. The package includes brake and clutch pedals. It will also be featuring Finite Element Method (FEM) analyzed aluminium alloy modular frames from billet. The aluminium throttle pedal comes with adjustable return hook. Also, the end stop is available separately. Brembo accepts a full range of master cylinder diameters up to 1 inch. It also offers a balance bar with a “click” step remote adjuster with a range of plus/minus 10 percent.

The geometry used in Brembo pedal box assures no wasted pedal motion. Additionally, it can be adjusted to 3 fixed positions: 4.3:1, 5.1:1 and 6.0:1. It is also designed to blend with car’s ergonomic design. Brembo panel box ensures its pivots for the clutch and the balance bar. The brake pedals also use straight roller bearings to lessen free play and friction. Aside from that, the firewall sealing uses visa fireproof rubber boots on all cylinders.

Trane Heat Pumps
