How can I retrofit my ‘85 Corvette A/C system?

I have a 1985 Corvette I just bought that runs on old R12 refrigerant and I need to retrofit it. Does anyone know the process for this? I’ve seen retrofit kits online but I’m unsure if they’d actually work.
